THE GARDEN

Sunday afternoon my wife and I took our usual Sunday drive. The car was all gassed up and ready to go. It was around lunch time so we took a sandwitch and some good cold water. We enjoy looking at yards on our drive. We usually see a garden or two. I really enjoy looking at gardens. You see all types. Some are just starting. Some have small plants just planted. Some have good starts with bigger plants. Most of them are small back yard gardens. When you get out in the country you see bigger gardens. Most of them have very neat rows.Tomato plants are a big item. You see some squash. You see a few pepper plants. These are in the back yard gardens. The bigger gardens have watermelons. They have rows of corn. You see some sweet tomato vines running along the ground. Some times you see people in the gardens. They are pulling weeds or watering tomato plants. A good garden takes a lot of work. You can't just dig a hole and throw in a seed. You have to add a little fertilizer. You may have to add a little water. You have to pull a few weeds.
That reminds me of our Spiritual Gardens. As Christians we have Spiritual Gardens. We accept Jesus as our Saviour. That is just the beginning. We have to get busy planting. We help others along the way. We attend Church. We join others in Bible Study. We begin our Christian growth. We start out as "Baby" Christians and grow into "Mature" Christians. We till the soil. We pull the weeds of sin from our life. We can not just sit still. We have to nuture our Spiritual Garden. The Parable of the Sower is told in Matthew Chapter 13. Read the first 24 verses to find out about The Farmer planting seeds. Get to work on your Spiritual Garden. The Harvest is just ahead.

Have you read the book 'The Shack' by Paul Young? It is an interesting read and he makes an analogy to a garden. Man plants his garden in rows, very organized and neat. The Holy Spirit, if we allow Him, will come in tear up our garden and put in a beautiful wild garden that grows better and looks better.

I too love to look at all the flowers and bushes people plant, so pretty. Then I love to look at God's garden, nature and I am blown away at the majestic beauty and complexity of it all.

Needless of what type of garden we plant we do need to tend to it otherwise weeds come in and take over.

Thank you for reminding me of this.

Blessings,
<><

Amen! Good reminder. We all need to cultivate our spiritual gardens. The weeds seem to always want to take it over.

Hi JT,
I like the title "The Garden" as an opening sentence to your writing. It is a refreshing topic. I think the Garden of God is the special place that our dear Lord Jesus promised to us as true believers. God planted the seeds to Christianity, and we are the harvest, a Brotherhood of Christians. Thank you for sharing this interesting topic, JT!!
God bless you!!
In the Garden of the Lord,

Hi - I am asking for fellow bloggers to visit my site in hopes that we can find a match for a young girl that desperately needs a bone marrow transplant. Would be great if you could visit today too. Thank you. Kelly

Jt, I absolutely loved this post.

I just popped by to catch up with your posts and I am so glad that I did. I am an avid gardener who is constantly, pruning, planting and finding things to do in my little courtyard garden.

I pray that whatever age we are, we will never be idle, but will continually be busy in the Kingdom garden, until the Master returns.

Thank you for the gentle reminder.

God Bless you more.
