HOARDERS

There is a new program on TV called HOARDERS. It is about people who have homes cluttered with things they never throw away. There are boxes and boxes of pictures. The closets are overflowing with old clothes they haven't worn in 10 years. Clothes are draped over doors. Clothes are hanging on top of clothes. There are piles of clothes laying in the floor. Then there are boxes of receipts. There are receipts for tires bought 10 years ago. The car is long gone. Why keep the tire receipt? It is in a stack along with 2 batteries purchased for the same car. There are old toys. There are 15 baby dolls that belonged to the children. Why keep baby dolls for a 25 year old? Do you think they are going to play with them? We have too many things in our life. There are boxes of pots and pans. These people are hoarders. They simply can not throw anything away. Our lives can become full of useless things. We have so many activities that There's no room for God. We have TV. We have ball games. We visit with the neighbors. We take vacations. We open old photo albums to look at pictures from past vacations. We need to make room in our lives. There has to be a place for God. We need to put God's word in our mind. We have a brain that can hold zillions of bits of information. There is still room for more. The problem is that when we try to think of spiritual things, all we can think of are all the other things we have stored over time. If you quit thinking about the useless things, they will work their way to the back of your mind. Our family is important. There has to be a time for helping others along the way. We need to know the importance of clearing out the old and moving in the new. Things that are beneficial and vital to our Christian life come first. We need to pray that God will guide us daily to a life filled with His Holy Spirit.

I totally agree! 90% of our activities are nothing but distractions that take us away from a God centered life. Sad, :-(

life can come at you fast and if you aren't ready for them it can mess up your life with God. So many distractions...

Great post. We do get too cought up in stuff which distracts us from what is truly important, which is God.

I'm kinda the opposite of a hoarder...I throw things away that most people would hold dear and sentimental... basically because I realize nobody will probably want it when Im dead...what purpose does it serve now... the exception being pictures an some of my kids drawings and writings and old family movies...these things still make me smile so they serve a purpose now.

I enjoyed this read tremendously. So very true. We must make God and his Kingdom our priority, and everything else a distant second. We would find that life would be more fulFILLing anyways!

Amen, we can not have our cup filled, unless it is empty. It is very hard to hear God, when we have so many other voices competing for our attention.

Thank you for your comment. It's so true, we put too much value on material things instead we should try and get closer to God and have more spiritual Love to our families and friends.
