GOING HOME

August 5, 2010 was a day to be remembered in Chile.  It was near lunch when a collapse happened in the structure of the San Jose' mine in Chile.  There were 32 Chileans and 1 Bolivian trapped in an area 2,297 feet below the surface.  On Wednesday October 13, 2010 they were rescued.  They were trapped for 69 days.  What kept them going?  They were thinking about their homes.  Some were married.  They thought about the wife that was waiting for them.  Some had been married for many years.  Some were married for short periods of time.  They all looked forward to seeing their wife.  Some had children.  They knew their children depended upon them.  They all wanted to return to hold their children.  Still, how did they survive?  They had to go without nourishment.  There had to be a time of darkness.  It was hot.  There was not much air.  They were afraid.  Yet they survived.  Home.  Knowing they would be going home to a better place gave them hope.  They suffered.  Yet they knew they would be going home.  The Bible tells us that this world is not our home.  Christians have suffered for hundreds of years.  Christians have been killed for their beliefs.  There has been torture.  There has been starvation.  Perhaps you have been persecuted because you are a Christian.  Just remember.  Soon the battle will be over.  God has prepared a home for us where we will go for rest, peace, love and worship.  We are strangers here in this land but we are going home.

I've still got things I'd like to do before I leave this life, but I've now got more loved ones over there than back here. Plus, I know where I'm going, so if I go tomorrow, It's okay.

Hi JT,
This one is a true story.
Great Post, JT!!
Thank you for posting this heartfelt true story!!
You know, I was not far from there. I watched what happened on TV moment after moment.
I saw the rescue team. Hundreds of people were there for them.
They all came out alive.
Thanks God for His mercy on His children!! Praise the Lord!!
I added a new poem in my poetry blog, if you wish to read it.
My poem talks about an interesting topic. It is also a true story.
God bless you, JT, and all those you love!!
In God's Garden,
Starry Dawn.
