THE GOOD AND BAD

My wife is a good cook. She may read this. She is a great cook. She can make the best corn bread you have ever tasted. When she is cooking corn bread you can smell it all over the house. Neighbors will call and ask if it is ready yet. I have watched her make a cake. She has stuff stacked all over the table. Sometimes it's bits of chocolate. Sometimes it is coconut. There is sugar. Some milk and some flour. I get to lick the mixing bowl. Sometimes I do a little tasting while she is cooking. The chocolate tastes very good. I like the coconut. I tasted some of the flour. It was awful. Yet when she mixes it all together it is delicious. How can the coconut taste so good and the flour taste so bad? When it is all mixed together and the cake is cooked it is delicious. It's perfect. You know that is how God is with us. He created you and He created me. A lot of good things have happened to us. Some bad things have come along the way. Remember that bad cold you had last winter. What about that tooth you had to get filled at the dentist. What about the death of a loved one? All these things were bad. God had to mix in a little bad with the good to make us appreciate the good. There has to be a little bad tasting flour in the mix to make a good cake. Think about it. The next time someone asks you - How can bad things happen to good people - you will have an answer.

Did you say corn bread? John you are so right and as we travel this road called life we will have the good and the bad, but we know who holds our tomorrow and who holds our hand. God bless you and your ministry!

JT...it's been a long time sinse I've visited...I'll have to rectify that in the future.

Corn bread and Jesus...I can't live without either one. But if I had to try...I'd live without the corn bread and choose the "Bread of Life."

Nice post.

JT. I love the cake analogy. Thank you for posting it. It definitely has ministered to me this Sunday morning. I might say it was my slice of cake.
