DIVISION

A man was on vacation. He enjoyed a wonderful restful trip. He walked the beach. He rested in the sun. He ate at the most wonderful restaurants. Then came Sunday morning. When he was home he always went to Church on Sunday morning. Now he was in a motel in a strange town and he didn't know where to find the nearest Church. He went to the desk in the lobby and received instructions to the location of a church in walking distance. No problem. He walked. It was a beautiful Sunday morning and he looked forward to a visit to the church. When he arrived he noticed there was no cars. In fact he didn't see anyone. He opened the door and went inside. A man cleaning the floor greeted him. He asked where were all the people. He was informed that the church had split. Some people were going to one church across town and others were starting a new church. During further conversation he found out why the church split. The argument started over the color of the carpet in the Santuary. This led to an argument over the color of the new pews. Sides were chosen. Things went from bad to worse. Finally it was over. Each side left the church. The people could no longer work together. Destruction will always follow division. Be very careful in your own church. Don't fall in the trap that starts with a small hill and ends with a mountain. Are you experiencing division in your church? God is calling you to mend what has been broken. Be the person in your church to bring peace and glory to God.

I have seen that many a time. The sad thing is if people would have their eyes fixed on Christ, instead of other things, none of these things would happen. Good Post!

You say that "destruction will always follow division." I've noticed, too, that division nearly always follows CONSTRUCTION (as in church expansion). Some churches survive it and eventually prosper; many others do like the one in your story.

So true. As Christians, we are called to unity - to be peacemakers. Thank you for this great reminder. And thank you for your kind visit to my blog home. God bless you!

I've always heard that Christians are the only group of people who shoot each other. And, fighting over carpet colors... puhleeeze right? I know it happens all the time... fighting and bickering over material stuff. We all just need to stop it. Lets fight the enemy and not each other.
