SLEEPY SUNDAY MORNING

Daylight savings time started on this Sunday morning. It was a good morning to be in Church. I saw a lot of yawning. The clock said 8:30 a.m. but my body said it was 7:30. My eyelids were closing. Our Pastor knew we would be sleepy. He could look at the congregation and tell how we were feeling. His sermon was entitled MAKE IT SMOKE. He talked about a grill in the backyard. You could smell the aroma of hamburgers as he talked. He talked aout the smoke as the grease dripped on the charcoal. You can tell it is going to be good when you see the smoke. Most people like the smell of a good grilled steak. The Bible verses told about sacrifices on the altar of God. He talked about an offering made by fire, a pleasing aroma. An offering made to the Lord. We need to intensify our worship experience. We need to make it smoke. We need to make our worship pleasing to God. Do you sleep walk through the worship service? Does God know you are present in Church? Does He hear you singing? Are you praising His name? Do you have a real worship experience in your church on Sunday morning? Do your fellow Christians know you are a Christian? Can they tell a difference in your life? Your speach? Your actions? Does your worship service smoke?

I must confess, too often I'm more concerned with what I'm getting out of it than what God's getting out of it. Knowing that makes his forgiveness all the more amazing. I sure can't pretend to deserve it!

We all need to be reminded sometimes that when we go to church it is to worship the Lord. We need to clear are minds of everything else and concentrate on God.

Thank you Ron for reminding us. God bless, Lloyd
