LONGING FOR HOME

I served 4 years in the United States Air Force. In 1962 I started my training in Texas. I had not been away from home for any extended period of time. I was home sick. I longed for home. I wanted to see familiar faces. I wanted to hear familiar voices. I will never forget my first experience of loneliness. I was walking in a residential area. It was almost dark. I could hear mothers calling their children. I could see them running for home. It was time to go inside. I saw lights in windows. I saw people around the dinner table. I was lonesome. On earth we are strangers in a foreign land. This is not our home. We should be looking forward to home. Once we get there we will see Jesus standing with open arms. He will welcome us to our Heavenly home. Are you longing for home?

John, I so appreciate your analogy of being homesick and wanting to be with the Lord. As Christians, there should always be a sense of not belonging here, but belonging with the Lord. After all this world is not our home. Thanks for coming to Daily Grace. God bless you richly.

The best part about this is Jesus, Himself. Even a cold barren place with Him there with you is better than a lush paradise without Him.

But Where Jesus is, 'tis Heaven there.

As the days grow more evil and I grow weaker and older my longing for heaven increases by the minute.

I've got more loved ones on the other side than this one. But, I think of all the people that I know and like that haven't accepted the Lord yet, and my fears for them keep me from praying for Christ's speedy return. I'm sure that a small percentage of the remaining lost get saved each day, so I keep praying that the ones I know won't leave this world unsaved. How can I wish otherwise for the ones that I don't know?

I think that, just like the soldier or an ambassador in another country, I am not from this place. I long for my eternal home, but know that as a worker in the kingdom, I have a commission and a mission field that is unbelievable. I am not alone, for the Lord is with me always. I am still a disciple of Christ and child of God being taught and growing daily. There is victory at the end, and that makes the race a joy. Glory be to God!

John, I'm not good with this "blog" stuff & I'm betting this isn't the correct place for me to be writing my reply to the comment you left me.though without knowing the right way to reply, I shall leave my message here.
"Thank you" Your comment, though "short" did have impact.
I'm not certain if "I know"as you stated. I mean; "If I HONESTLY know". Sometimes I think I do, & other times,,,, well I just don't know. I confess to many times "Knowing without doubt" there wasn't a God! Convinced to my core. Those times may have just been due to the heat of the battle or its aftermath.
When being honest with myself, (something not always easy for me to do)I consider the fact that it just might be easier for me to believe "God doesnt exist", perhaps this is easier for me to think about and deal with VS the thought he would NOT welcome me.
Just a thought, and thanks again for yours.

Bubba Yesterday - Thank you for your comment. I left a short comment on the forum because this answer is personal between you and God. I read that your wish is to "to be known, accepted and loved for who I honestly am". I have news for you. God knows you, accepts you and loves you for who you honestly are. Do something for me. Go to a quite private place. Close your eyes. Pray. God will hear your prayers and answer your prayers. You are a special person. God created you. His blood flows through your body. You belong to Him. May God bless and keep you. You will be in my prayers.

What a grand time that will be! We will see Jesus and be able to sit at his feet. All the troubles and pain of this old world will be gone. All of our loved ones that went on before us will be there.
