BURDENS

I have a neighbor who is in poor health. Her legs hurt. Her back hurts. Her head hurts. She has problems with her teeth. She has problems with her eyes. She has all sorts of health issues. Every conversation always gets around to her illness. She stays at home inside with her sickness all day. She never leaves her home. During our many conversations I have encouraged her to become more active. I ask her to walk to the end of her driveway and back home just for exercise. I have tried to help her for years and I’m still trying. She has a burden. Most of it is in her mind. I believe all she needs to do is get out and live her life. Make friends. Go to church. Help someone else with their burdens. When you help someone else with their burdens your load becomes a little lighter. God put us here on this earth to help others. Are you helping someone carry their load?

Self-pity is an easy trap to fall into, JT; I've battled it myself.

Thanks for your comment Deborah.

"Bear one another's burdens" is follow shortly by "For each shall bear his own burden" in Galatians 6. The better you do one the better you do the other.

Hi John,
This one is an amazing post. I thoroughly agree with you, John. If you help your neighbor, your friend, some folks or just someone to carry on with their heavy loads, you will be doing God's work in this world. That is exactly what God wants us to do. Our final purpose -as Christians in this Earth- is to fulfill God's plan for us. Our dear Lord has a plan for each of us in this world. If we are troubled or overburdened with our trials and tribulations, it'll be a great therapy to start helping someone else, and release our heartaches and inner troubles with a positive energy. That is exactly what I do in this world: I help the ones in need in any way possible and as much as I can, so that I may forget my own troubles.
Yes! I help animals and people. Thank you for sharing your gentle and loving ways, plus your wisdom with the world, John!!
You are an amazing friend.
God keeps blessing you, John, and those you love!!
Blessings,

Hello JT, and thanks for visiting my blog and your kind comments. I have two people that I help: one is my uncle and he sounds remarkably like your friend. I continuously encourage him, but he rarely leaves his room. I think his biggest problem is depression, which I have also battled. I refuse to give up, though. On the other hand, my former mother in law, who remains my best friend, was just diagnosed with a severe form of dementia that also causes her to have serious falls. She has been a life long Christian and I think that makes a difference in how she copes. She knows she is going home at the end of this trial! I help her every afternoon at he home. As for me, when I help them I feel better about myself. We are "the body of Christ," his hands and feet here on earth. Thanks for bringing up an issue that affects each and every day for myself and others!

Thanks for your comment Suzie. Matthew 25:40 says - Whatever you did for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. God bless you.
