THE GOOD NEWS

It was the Spring of the year and time for planting. Farmer Jones had to get ready. The year was 1950. That was a time when there were small farms still alive in America. Farmers raised most of their food. They didn’t have money to go grocery shopping. Farming was hard work. The fields had to be made ready for planting. First of all you had to remove big rocks from the field. You can’t plant crops on rocky fields. The next step was to break ground, so big plows were put to work. Then straight, even rows were laid out across the field. There were a few more rocks to be removed. The big plow unearthed them all over the field. Then seeds were planted in the rows. Then Farmer Jones prayed for the right amount of sun and rain.
We are like Farmer Jones in our Christian life. We must prepare ourself to follow Jesus. We remove sin from our life like Farmer Jones removed rocks from the field. Sin is like the rocks that hinders our Christian growth. We plant our seeds by telling the good news to non-believers.Then we pray for their salvation. We must continue to follow Jesus. Jesus asked the disciples if they would continue to follow Him after all the others had deserted. Peter answered – Why would we follow anyone else? Will you follow Jesus today?

Excellent analogy. What spoke to me the most was how we need to pray for others' salvation. I am happy to share the gospel but should also stop and pray for those I'm sharing with.

Good post. Most of our "fields" are a bit rockier and weedier than they should be.
