I remember being young. I remember playing marbles in our yard. I remember eagerly waiting for Santa Claus at Christmas. I remember going to Church and my Sunday School Teacher. I remember my mother telling me everything would be ok when I had a skinned knee. I remember going to school. I remember my first grade school teacher. I remember High School. I remember my four years in the Air Force. I remember getting married. Then I woke up one morning and I was 30 years old. It seems like I was 50 in the blink of an eye. Now I am almost 70. I’m feeling ok. I walk 3 miles every day but Sunday. I’m happy that my wife and I have celebrated 45 years of marriage. We are in pretty good health.
I have a friend who is suffering from dementia. I know someone else who does not know members of their own family. It seems that when you get old – it’s over. I read about a man who told his Pastor that he was worried he might forget God and God might forget him. His Pastor told him not to worry. God will never forget you. Isaih 46:4 says – “Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you. I will sustain you and I will rescue you.” So you see, we have nothing to worry about because He will be there. You will never lose the love of God.
