JUST LISTEN

It had been a hard day at work. Everything that could go wrong, went wrong. The car wouldn’t start and he was late for work. There was an early meeting. He was late and he really didn’t have time to prepare. He had to make a big presentation. He knew it did not go well. After the meeting the boss had some unkind words. He promised he would do better next time. He had a phone call waiting when he returned to his desk. A customer complaint. He listened to the customer and he knew the customer had a legitimate complaint. He handled it but had a bad feeling about it. The morning dragged on and it was time for lunch. He had a salad and soup for lunch at the local café. It didn’t sit well with him. After lunch he handled a few things he had been working with and it was finally time to go home. The car wouldn’t start again. He raised the hood and tinkered around with the battery cables. It finally started and he made it home. He flopped down in a chair with a loud sigh. He closed his eyes and rubbed them. What happened to me today? Why did God let all those things happen to me? He screamed at God “Why did you do this to me?” “Don’t you care?” Then he saw his new puppy cowering under the coffee table. The loud noise frightened him. He picked him up and gave him a hug. He poured out his troubles. The puppy licked his face and all was well. The puppy didn’t argue or give advice. It just listened.
Sometimes we just need to listen. When a friend unloads troubles on you, just listen. Your listening ear may be all they need, so they can hear what God is saying to them. Romans 12:15 “Rejoice with those who rejoice, mourn with those who mourn.”

Living in a world that is so selfish and loud, sometimes it's hard to just stop and listen. Good Post!

I think sometimes God lets these things happen to develop our character. Great lesson!
