RETIREMENT

I was discharged from the USAF in December of 1965.  I started to work on my new civilian job January 2, 1966.  I worked at the same job until June 30, 2007.  That's a long time.  I missed one day of work during my career.  I was able to get to work through snow, sleet and hail.  That sounds like a statement I read once about the US Mail.  I loved my job.  I enjoyed working with people in the company.  The company was sold two or three times through these years.  I stayed on the job.  When 2007 came along I was ready to retire.  Everyone says that you will be unhappy when you have nothing to do.  You will sit at home and watch TV.  You may go fishing once in a while.  In a couple of years you will be dead.  It will all be over.  They are wrong.  God has no retirement plan.  You can not retire.  When you walk away from your job you just have more time to be involved in work for God.  You have more time to teach a Sunday School Class.  Now you can visit the sick.  You can volunteer to help the needy.  You can get more involved in your Church.   You now work entirely for God.  God has a job for you.  Be open to His whisper in your ear.  Listen carefully.  He has a special plan for you.  He knows you are strong enough to be the person you were meant to be.  Just be ready for your calling.

Amen JT, let us keep occupied until He comes. All we need is to step up and say: Here I am Lord, use me. Wishing you a Merry Christmas.

JT - Just stopped by to wish you a very Merry Christmas. I really loved this post. What you had to say was so encouraging to me. I eagerly look forward to seeing what God has in store for me, now that I have more time on my hands!!

I especially liked this - "He knows you are strong enough to be the person you were meant to be. Just be ready for your calling."

That got me excited for what's coming in 2011!

GOD BLESS!
