THE INNOCENT DEVIL

There are many times when we are tempted to sin. Maybe it involves alcohol. Someone offers you a drink. You are at a party and everyone's drinking. There is dancing and everyone is having a good time. You know that you should not drink an alcoholic drink. You think about it. Then you have that drink. One drink leads to another and another. All too soon you have had too much to drink. You are no longer in control. Alcohol has taken control. The next day you awake with a headache. You feel awful. Someone confronts you about drinking. It could be a parent or a spouse. Your answer - The devil made me do it. Maybe you have a car to sell. You know the car is in pretty good condition. You also know that the car was wrecked by a relative. The customer wants to know if you have wrecked the car. It wasn't you who wrecked the car so you tell him - No I have not wrecked the car. You know it was wrecked. You stretch the truth to make the sale. Later on you have doubts. You tell yourself - The devil made me do it. God gives you a free will to make choices. You can choose to do the right thing or the wrong thing. You can take a drink of whiskey or tell a lie. When you sin - don't blame it on the devil. You made the decision. The devil did not make you do it. You are guilty. Everyone must take responsibility for their actions. Pray for self control. Pray that you will be strong and not give in to sin.

In both situations you knew that it was wrong but you chose to do it anyways. Every once in a while I will find myself in a similar situation where you know what is right and what is wrong. Now it is up to you to make the correct choice.

I enjoy your posts very much!

It is sad to see how many Christians don't want to take responsibility of their own actions and that is way many of them never change their ways.

God give us the Gift of Discernment and is up to us to use it to lead or give us direction on a matter.
