WAR

William Booth was one of the first to become a General for Christ. He was born in 1829 in Nottingham, England. When he was 16 years old he joined with some friends and began preaching in homes. People gathered in one home and they preached to 10 or 12 people who gathered in God's name. William and his friends established the Christian Revial Association in 1865. They changed the name to Christian Mission later on when the movement began to grow. In 1878 this war-like mission's name was changed to the Salvation Army. William Booth was the first General of the Salvation Army. The war is being fought every day. You can hear the noise of battle. You can hear the Bell ringing at entrances to stores and Malls all over America. You can hear the voice of warriors as they say THANK YOU when you drop money in the kettles. You can see smiles and hear THANK YOU as warriors hand out food and clothing to needy families. There is a war being fought on American Soil. It is fought by members of the Salvation Army every day.
